My Goals for Vanderburgh County
My experience as a city and county leader has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and rewards of public service. It has allowed me to see firsthand the impact that decisions made by leaders can have on their communities, both positive and negative. This insight has inspired me to seek county leadership, where I can leverage my experience and knowledge to create positive change for all residents.
1. Public Safety
Public safety is a top priority for me. As someone who has worked as both a firefighter and a deputy sheriff, I understand firsthand the importance of supporting our officers and first responders. By providing them with the necessary resources, we can ensure that they are well-prepared to keep our community safe. With your support, I plan to make public safety a cornerstone of my work as County Council at Large.
2. Education
My mission is to not only address the safety concerns of our educational institutions but also to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all children in our community. We recognize the importance of the education system, and we work tirelessly to ensure that all facilities have the necessary resources and tools needed to prioritize safety effectively. I want to have quarterly meetings between County Council and the School Board, as well as with parents and teachers that will inform us about what they see on a daily basis in the classroom and with their children. I look forward to working with these experts to give the youth of our County and City the best chances to succeed in life.
3. Growth and Infrastructure
I am committed to improving our community by focusing on growth and infrastructure. That includes working to improve the riverfront, adding more restaurants, and installing docks for boats to make our city a desirable destination from both land and water. I have supported giving tax abatements to several large businesses and will continue to work to incentivize businesses to build in Evansville, which will create job opportunities for our residents. Additionally, I am dedicated to educating individuals about assistance programs and resources that are available to them regarding affordable housing. I look forward to working with realtors, banks, landlords and other entities to help the citizens of Vanderburgh County have the best quality of place possible.
